Winner of a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2018, Luxury Travel Guide 2018 Winner for Unique Experience in Brisbane, Australian Good Food Guide Reader’s Choice 2018, Australia’s Best Tours and one of the web’s Top 10 Australian Beer Blogs?!
It’s been a fantastic first half of 2018, and a great end to the 2017/18 financial year. We’re so proud of everything we have achieved in the past 26 months – ever since running our first tour on 2 April 2016 – and are excited to share it with everyone! Earning the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2018 is a great feat, as it means we have earned one each year we’ve been in operation. Whilst we may not be making the front covers of all the national papers just yet, the contribution we feel as though we have made to the wider beer community is certainly something we take great pride in.
Some of our basic stats were shared on an Instagram post on our 2nd birthday, but to quickly recap:
500 guests in the first year of operation / 95 tours
1113 guests in our second year / 206 tours
Based on current figures, we are looking to at least triple numbers from our first year
Average of 4-5 tours/week and this number is always increasing
We are starting to see a good percentage of repeat guests coming through, especially buck’s parties where an attendee chose to spend his day with us after going on a tour for one of his friends. Our guests are a good mix of locals and visitors, and we are also starting to see more international tourists coming through after having found us via reviews online.
To help visitors ensure they get the highest quality products and services during their visit, Tourism and Events Queensland is implementing a new system known as the “Best of Queensland Experiences”. The program is “…based on a robust and independent set of criteria that are determined by online customer reviews, responding to contemporary consumer expectations and reflecting industry best practice… The program is largely driven by customer sentiment and expectations which will not only provide a clear focus for our marketing activities but also set measurable benchmarks for our tourism industry on what constitutes a high-quality visitor experience.” After completing our review, we are excited to be one of the highest rating tourism products currently listed, with a score of 95/100!
Recently we have also been contacted by Qantas Holidays and Virgin Holidays to feature our products. Gold Coast Tourism, Tourism & Events Queensland (TEQ) and Brisbane Marketing are starting to send more famils our way, and we have recently been asked to sit on an upcoming panel for the Best of QLD Experiences section of the Conversations with Industry, an event hosted jointly by GC Tourism and TEQ.
Aside from the above awards, we received recognition as having been selected by panelists at Feedspot as being one of the Top 10 Australian Beer Blogs on the web. Have a look at a few of the other beer blogs (we’re mighty humbled, by the way) as well as some of the recent Top 10 lists you can find on Feedspot.
What does this all mean? It means that – first of all – we wouldn’t be where we are without your support. If we didn’t have incredible people spending their days with us, we obviously wouldn’t be here. If the local breweries all dried up and closed overnight, we could no longer do what we do (and SE Queensland would be a very sad place indeed). The crew at each venue that look after our guests when we’re in have been nothing but welcoming and supportive. The growth of the breweries and expanding craft beer scene fosters our growth, and vice versa.
Guests enjoying their day with us and loving the beer they sample; finding hidden venues and sharing a unique experience with friends; learning about the brewing process in detail: these are the factors that excite our customers to tell others and post online reviews. Their enthusiasm spurs on our passion to drink and discover, to research and re-tell and continue to tell the tall tales of ales.
To everyone who has travelled, will travel or is thinking about travelling with us, we raise a glass and say “Cheers!”
