Black Hops Brewery The Least Covert Operation in Brewing Gold Coast craft beer black logo

Black Hops Brewing

Where to start, when so many people already know their story? Black Hops Brewing Company started gypsy brewing in November 2014, with their intimate and welcoming brewery opening doors in early 2016. With their tinnies now available in bars and at their cellar door, as well as kegs and cartons popping up at venues around Queensland, Black Hops are regularly involved in craft beer events around the region.

Tour their intimate venue on the Gold Coast and meet the Black Hops brewers while enjoying a refreshing beer in the hot Gold Coast sun. During your visit you can taste their rotating single-batch taps, with special cellar-door releases not found anywhere else. Take home a squealer or growler to enjoy later in the night and come back to refill whenever your beer stock gets low. And if you have extra time, why not duck into AWOL, their barrel-aged tasting room in Burleigh.

On the northern end of the Gold Coast? Kick back at BHII! Located in Biggera Waters, this larger-scale operation is in full swing during the week, pumping out more delicious beer to enjoy. With rotating food trucks on site to soak up the beers, this family-friendly venue is sure to satisfy your beer cravings.

Brewing in Brisbane since October, 2020, Black Hops Brewing took over the space and the brew house of Semi-Pro Brewing in East Brisbane, so check out what special releases they have on tap there. Even though their tagline is “Beer Made By 3 Mates on the Gold Coast”, soon they’ll have to change it to being made across Queensland!
