Check out the full itinerary:

After pick up at one of our set locations, we will start with beer education and samples at AWOL the Gold Coast’s first barrel-aged taproom. We want to ensure that you understand where beer comes from – after all, gin starts life as beer!

With a VIP experience starting before doors open to the public, we will taste the core range of AWOL beers and learn the history of Black Hops brewing as well as what inspired this completely unique setup.

Have you ever wondered why gin tastes the way it does? Think all vodkas, gins and whiskeys are created equal? Then you will love this mind-opening tour of the Gold Coast’s first nano-distillery. At Granddad Jack’s, owners Luke and Dave will share the story of their family history, the making of their tipples, and break any misconceptions you’ve held about distilling. Sample three of their gins, all made on premise, and become part of the family.

Bear in mind that their motto is “Too busy for bullshit; too tipsy to care!” – so no bullshitters allowed!

Tucked away in Varsity Lakes/Burleigh is Wildflower Gin Distillery, which kicked off during lockdown of all things! Starting with sanitizer and a small-scale still (say that three times fast!), James and Tudor quickly grew into their space when they got some much larger equipment. Hosting gin-making classes during the week, our guests will get to hear the story behind the distillery and taste a range of their award-winning spirits.

A newcomer to the Coast but not to spirits is Capricorn Distillery with a range of gins and rums (we’ll focus on the rums) in a funky industrial warehouse in the back streets of Burleigh. Here we will get a chat about what makes rum rum and how to experience the true flavours of this often misaligned spirit.

Finish the day at Rusty Barrel, a whisky and tapas bar located in Varsity Lakes. You’d never know it was here, but you’ll be glad to have found it! Jesse, the on-site mixologist, will guide our guests through three whisk(e)y tastings. We’ll also end with some food here – it’s been a big day of tastings! – and once finished you can choose to kick on, or we will get you back to where you need to be on the GC. Within reason, of course.

Where a location is indicated, we will pick up you outside the venue so please keep an eye out for our van – you can’t miss it!

Pick Up:

  • Helensvale Station on the Westfield/bus side. Easy access for guests joining us from north of Gold Coast. Our bus will be waiting in the “kiss and ride” area out front – you can’t miss us!
  • Loose Moose is located on the ground floor of the Oasis Centre in Broadbeach, just near the roundabout. We’ll pick you up outside, so make sure you keep an eye out for the van.

Drop Offs:

  • Helensvale Station so guests can easily get back to the southern end of the Gold Coast or back up to Brisbane.
  • Loose Moose so you can kick on with a few more drinks or easily grab a taxi to get where you need to be.

We are flexible with our drop-off locations, but please speak to us at the time of booking.

Included in the price: transportation in our private, air-conditioned van, guided brewery and distillery tour with explanation of the brewing/distilling process, all beer/gin samples at the breweries we visit, lunch, beer education and history, snacks, and witty commentary (well, we think it is).

Please note: itinerary subject to change based on traffic, closures, new openings, events or spur-of-the-moment decisions, however we will ensure you receive everything listed above.

Before booking please understand that you may be travelling with other people and the 1.5m social distancing guidelines may not be possible in the short van trips between venues. If you do not feel comfortable with this please contact us to discuss other options.

Not finding the tour you want on the date you need? Give us a call – we might have created a special tour for the day that we can get you on, or we may be sold out. But you’ll never know unless you ask. We’re always happy to help and check availability for you.
