Hatchets and Hops
-Axe throwing and beer drinking!-

Project Description

Hatchets and Hops

Discover your inner viking! Start the day with some lessons in axe-throwing and spend an hour honing your skills before cooling down with a few frothies.

After our time at MANIAX, we will stay in the area and visit craft breweries at some of Brisbane’s best inner-city venues with a tour of at least one brewery. We’ll chat with the people that produce this liquid gold and even enjoy some history with your beer education.

Not feeling like you need to bury the hatchet? Check out our other Brisbane brewery tour options, like our full-day Best of Brisbane tour or a cruisy half-day Dash of Brisbane. Either way, you’ll get to swig some samples with the best of ’em!

  • Tour operates on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Pick up times: 8:45am – The Gresham (CBD) / 9:00am – Daily Planet Cafe (Fortitude Valley)

  • Tour lasts roughly 6 hours

  • Visit Maniax Axe Throwing and 3 breweries; lunch included

  • Photo ID required; Must be 18+ to participate; Strictly no drinking before tour commences

Maniax axe throwing is about getting together with friends and doing something different. When you sink your first bullseye, you’ll be hooked.

With individual coaching and target practice, you’ll then play a tournament against your mates to see who wins bragging rights as the champion axe thrower. They might even buy you a beer of your choosing after your brewery tour and education!

After your pick up, we will begin the day with beer tasting at Newstead Brewing Co where you’re encouraged to sample all the core range of beers on tap – plus maybe a few seasonal or one-off beers. Your guides will take you through beer ingredients, including some witty, historical commentary, and enlist a brilliant Newstead team member to walk you through the brewery and explain the complete brewing process.

Like what you’ve tasted? Grab a couple six-packs or purchase a growler to fill and refill with your favourite beers from Newstead Brewing Co.

Archer Brewery is located in Spring Hill underneath the International Hotel. It’s a classic Aussie pub with a hidden twist. This underground brewery has been around longer than many the others in Brisbane, but many don’t know it’s here. Archer focuses on fresh, all-Australian ingredients in their beers.

We ensure you get to sample the lot as you enjoy a delicious pub meal – think pizzas, burgers, steak, salad – in Archer’s Bunker: a unique, underground space!

We finish the day at Green Beacon Brewing Co, an award-winning Queensland brewery and one of the most recognisable brands in the industry. With seasonal releases throughout the year and a delicious core range to suit any visitor, Green Beacon encompasses the community spirit brought back to Australia after worldly travels.

Where a location is indicated, we will pick up you outside the venue so please keep an eye out for our van – you can’t miss it!

Pick Ups:

  • The Gresham is an historic pub in central Brisbane. From Central Station, exit toward Ann Street. Past the ANZAC Memorial and through Post Office Square, next to the NAB bank, you’ll find The Gresham tucked away. Alternatively you can exit toward Edward Street, head down the hill and turn left onto Queen Street. Walk about 1/2 block and The Gresham will be next to the NAB on your left. Please note The Gresham does not open until 4pm on Saturdays and is closed on Sundays; we will still pick up here and there are plenty of places in Post Office Square to get a coffee and/or breakfast.
  • Daily Planet Cafe is a comic-book-inspired cafe that serves scenestr coffee and offers guests a 10% discount on their drink purchases when they show their tour confirmation for that day’s tour. Bonus!

We are flexible with our drop-off locations within the city based on guests’ needs and requests.

Included in the price: 1-hour education and axe-throwing at MANIAX, transportation in our private, air-conditioned van, guided brewery tour with explanation of the brewing process, all beer samples at the breweries we visit, lunch, beer education and history, water & snacks, and witty commentary (well, we think it is).

Please note: itinerary subject to change based on traffic, closures, new openings, events or spur-of-the-moment decisions, however we will ensure you receive everything listed above.

Please note this tour requires a minimum of 6 guests; if you are a smaller party and interested in including axe-throwing, please contact us directly and we will be happy to assist.
