Taste of Tamborine
-Departing Brisbane-

Project Description

Taste of Tamborine from Brisbane

Experience the beautiful Mt Tamborine, located in the hinterland between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. With this brewery tour we offer the chance to get out of the city for a breath of fresh air, some true farmhouse hospitality, and introduction to a wide range of beer styles and flavours.

Take some time to explore the area on your own, and see what happens behind the scenes of a busy brewery. Get ready for a fun and unique day out with a Taste of Tamborine.

Please note this tour requires a minimum of 4 people to run and operates by request only.

Since this tour visits the oldest rum distillery in Queensland, we probably wouldn’t recommend it if rum isn’t your cup of tea. Also, there is a fair amount of driving involved – about 45 minutes each way up and back to Mt Tamborine – so if windy roads don’t agree with you, we might suggest staying in the city. There are some great options to check out the Brisbane boutique beer scene, including our Best of Brisbane, Western Explorer and Southern Session tours.

  • Tour operates on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Please note this tour operates by request only.

  • Pick up times: 10:00am – The Gresham (CBD) / 10:15am – Daily Planet Cafe (Fortitude Valley)
  • Tour lasts roughly 7.5 hours
  • Visit 2 breweries, 1 distillery + farmhouse restaurant; lunch included
  • Photo ID required; Must be 18+ to participate; Minimum 4 guests

Check out the full itinerary:

After your pick up, we will begin the day by visiting Newstead Brewing Co where you’re encouraged to sample all the core range of beers on tap – plus maybe a few seasonal or one-off beers currently available. Your guides will take you through beer ingredients, including some witty, historical commentary, and enlist a brilliant Newstead team member to walk you through the brewery and explain the complete brewing process.

Like what you’ve tasted? Grab a couple six-packs or purchase a growler to fill and refill with your favourite beers from Newstead Brewing Co. before we hit the road.

Breaking up the journey down the M1 we stop in at Beenleigh Rum Distillery in Beenleigh. Here you will be treated to a tour of the working artisan rum distillery and sample the products when finished. We have plenty of room in our van for you to bring a couple bottles home with you.

Another half an hour drive gets us to the top of Mount Tamborine. Take in the stunning scenery along the way, chat with your fellow beer appreciators, swap first-beer stories, or maybe play some trivia and win prizes!

Upon arrival at Fortitude Brewing we will see the working brewery and all the equipment involved in producing some delicious beer. We will grab paddles for everyone to taste Fortitude’s core range of beers and enjoy them over pizzas.

After lunch we’ll give you some free time to explore Gallery Walk on your own (30-45 minutes depending on time), where you can pick up souvenirs, taste fudge or even mix up the day by sampling some local wines (at your own cost) before we load up the van to continue down the hill (roughly 30 minutes) to our final stop.

Be aware that the road down is a bit windy, so if you suffer from motion or car sickness, please ensure you have something to combat it or sit near the front of the van.

A short drive down from Fortitude Brewing is the discreet entrance to one of the many incredible breweries on Mount Tamborine – but you wouldn’t have any idea it’s here. This is because we have exclusive access to visit Beard & Brau at the source! Owner/brewer Chris “Fish” Herring makes small batch brews on his farm in Tamborine and has just celebrated his tenth anniversary in Queensland. Have a chance to talk all things beer and try some of the best around!

After a few more tasters, we’ll head down the mountain back to Brisbane, where you can be dropped at your original pick up location, at a local pub, or somewhere in between (within reason).

Where a location is indicated, we will pick up you outside the venue so please keep an eye out for our van – you can’t miss it!

Pick Ups:

  • The Gresham (308 Queen Street, Brisbane) is an historic pub in central Brisbane. From Central Station, exit toward Ann Street. Past the ANZAC Memorial and through Post Office Square, next to the NAB bank, you’ll find The Gresham tucked away. Alternatively you can exit toward Edward Street, head down the hill and turn left onto Queen Street. Walk about 1/2 block and The Gresham will be next to the NAB on your left. Please note The Gresham does not open until 4pm on Saturdays and is closed on Sundays; we will still pick up here and there are plenty of places in Post Office Square to get a coffee and/or breakfast.
  • Daily Planet Cafe (228 Wickham St, Fortitude Valley) is a very short wallk from the Fortitude Valley Station – come out, hang a left and turn right at the Elephant Hotel (Wickham St) and DPC is on your right. If you hit the Night Owl, you’ve gone too far. Daily Planet Cafe is a comic-book-inspired cafe that serves scenestr coffee and offers guests a 10% discount on their drink purchases when they show their tour confirmation for that day’s tour. Bonus!

We are flexible with our drop-off locations within the city based on guests’ needs and requests.

Included in the price: transportation in our private, air-conditioned van, guided brewery tour with explanation of the brewing process, all beer samples at the breweries we visit, lunch, beer education and history, water & snacks, and witty commentary (well, we think it is).

Please note: itinerary subject to change based on traffic, closures, new openings, events or spur-of-the-moment decisions, however we will ensure you receive everything listed above.

Please note this tour operates by request only or on specific available dates as per the calendar. It requires a minimum of 4 people to run.

Please call for available dates and to discuss your needs.
